Methodology
How we collect data, calculate fair market values, and surface deals. Transparency is core to everything we do.
Our Data Source
We track graded Pokemon card sales on eBay, the world's largest marketplace for graded Pokemon cards. Every verified sold listing is captured and matched to a card in our catalog. eBay provides the deepest liquidity and broadest coverage of any single marketplace, making it the most reliable source for price discovery.
Card Catalog
Our catalog contains 19,889 unique cards across 172 complete sets, sourced from the Pokemon TCG API. Each card is tracked as a distinct instrument — defined by the card identity plus its variant (1st Edition, Unlimited, Reverse Holo, etc.). We currently track 20,213 instruments.
Listing Resolution
When a card sells on eBay, the listing title is parsed and matched to the correct instrument in our catalog. We use a multi-stage resolution pipeline:
Fair Market Value
FMV is calculated from verified sold listing data for each card at each grade (PSA 10, PSA 9, CGC 9.5, etc.). We use the median of recent comparable sales to reduce the impact of outliers.
Low-confidence FMVs are clearly marked throughout the platform. We never present a low-confidence estimate as authoritative.
Deal Scoring
Active eBay listings are compared against our calculated FMV. When a listing is priced below FMV, we calculate the discount percentage and surface it as a deal alert. Deals are sorted by discount depth and filtered by your watchlist preferences. Every deal link goes directly to the eBay listing via an affiliate link (eBay Partner Network).
What We Don't Do
- — We don't provide financial or investment advice
- — We don't independently verify grades — we report what grading companies assign
- — We don't guarantee data accuracy — all estimates are based on available data
- — We don't predict future prices — past performance is not indicative of future results
See our full disclaimer for complete details.
Data Freshness
Price data is updated daily as new sales are verified and matched. The card catalog is updated when new sets are released by The Pokemon Company. Fair market values recalculate automatically as new sales data enters the system.
